Christmas Albums

This week is Christmas Week and today I’ll be talking about some must-listen Christmas albums!

I’ll start with good ol’ Michael Bublé. You can always rely on a Bublé album to put on at Christmas that your whole family will love, (even your Dad who will probably deny it).

Bubble’s 2011 album simply titled Christmas is the biggest selling Holiday album of all time!

A little side note – this winter his son has been having treatment for cancer so Bublé has been taking time off, but luckily their son is well enough to be home for Christmas and not in the hospital!

Below is his video for Santa Claus is Coming to Town – it’s incredibly cheesy, but that’s part of the fun of Christmas so we can forgive him!

If you look down the Official Charts ‘ 20 biggest selling Christmas albums of the past century, it’s mostly ‘big’ singers – Michael Bublé, Frank Sinatra, Kylie Minogue, Charlotte Church, Katherine Jenkins…. but somehow, no.16 is Tweenies – The Christmas Album… I grew up with the Tweenies and I’d honestly not heard of this album till I saw it on the Official Charts list.

Next up is an album not on the top 20 selling Christmas albums of all time, and I’m pretty sure you’ll know the music video below, but did you know Jethro Tull have an entire 2-disc Christmas album?

The whole album has a really relaxing holiday vibe, complete with their signature rhythmic flute. Below is a video of them performing Ring Out Those Solstice Bells on Top of the Pops

The final Christmas album I have for you today is another one not on the top 20 best selling of all time – A Family Christmas by The Piano Guys

The Piano Guys is made up of 4 men – a videographer, a producer, a cellist and a pianist, who make some truly gorgeous music accompanied by some incredibly well thought out music videos. Their album is perfect to have in the background as it’s instrumental, and the rest of their work is certainly worth looking in to!

Below is the fun video for Angels We Have Heard on High
