Lovely-Love Songs

lovely-love

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today I’m going to share with you some real gems – some more unusual and some generally wonderful love songs to send or sing to your loved ones.

Jamie Callum – Don’t Stop The Music (Rihanna cover)

This song has some beautiful and loved-up lyrics, but Jamie puts a more chilled-out take on the original dance track!

Peter Gabriel – The Book of Love (The Magnetic Fields cover)

If you’re a fan of Scrubs, you’ll remember this song from when JD is looking at his future on a projector outside the hospital. It’s a less melancholy version of the original, and your loved one will really appreciate this being sung to them!

Billy Paul – Mrs Jones

Beautifully soulful and romantic, and of course the pure excitement in the lead up to “Meeeeeeeee aaaaaaaaand… Mrs…. Mrs Jones” shows your partner how much you love them.

Let’s Get It On – Marvin Gaye

Keeping on the theme of soul… you can’t have Valentine’s without this song. Whether you’re getting it on or not, it brings a smile to everyone.

Dela – Johnny Clegg

My personal favourite – the campfire scene in George of the Jungle brings so much joy to me and you must hear this song for the beautiful and more unusual lyrics!

Christina Perri – A Thousand Years

Far more melancholy than the other songs in this list, and I know it was used for the Twilight soundtrack… but it is a really gorgeous song so I had to add it!

John Mayer – Love is a Verb

Everything John Mayer does is a beautiful love song, even when it’s not about love. This one is one of my favourites.

Adele – Make You Feel My Love

Couldn’t write a love song list without including Adele. Perfect for being in and out of love, Adele’s voice is beautiful and pure.
