Throwback Thursday – Hypnotize, Notorious B.I.G

I thought it was appropriate to make this week’s Throwback Thursday Hypnotize since Monday marked the 20 year anniversary of its release!

P.Diddy utilised a beat from a song called Rise by Herb Alpert, 1979 (written by Herb’s nephew Randy) and according to multiple sources, Randy was approached by other rap artists like Eazy-E, Ice Cube and Vanilla Ice to use the beat, but only agreed to B.I.G because he could hear his song ‘become a number one again’.

Hypnotize at its peak achieved the no.10 spot on the UK Singles Chart (officialcharts) and the no.1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 (billboard). The song also won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rap Video, so check it out below!
